12th July 2008 - I have a 3 page article published in Model Collector magazine, Sept 2008 issue. The 2,000 words are about my Ford Escort XR3's history. Starts page 28. Cool.
17th May 2008 - Was invited to write an article for 'Model Collector' magazine. I have written a 2,000 word piece on my XR3 and the times Corgi and Sunstar came to measure it up for models. I have written it with some humour. Lots of pictures. The story covers the events it has been to such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, racing at Santa Pod and Goodwood, the time it was in a museum, and what its was like to own an XR in the early days, and how it narrowly escaped having an X-Wing mural painted on the front. Check out the Sept 2008 issue, probably out in Aug.
22nd April 2008 - I've been working up a design for Cyber'Dave's sled. Based on American 50's car design with a bit of warbird thrown in for good measure. Can't disclose the picture here.
29th Feb - The IAC magazine, Film & Video Maker April 2008 edition, has run an article on our Scrapheap Challenge Robot. A full page article with 10 colour pictures. Cool!
15th Feb - Team Lightning has a new 'Honorary Member' in Texas called Mark. I've sent him some bits and pieces on the robot and he is now our team's point of contact for the USA. Made a web page http://homepage.ntlworld.com/calvertfilm/CorsairStuff/Corsair.htm Also some of the Cyber-Dave team plan to meet soon. Also I've been emailing some Robot Wars teams to see how they are doing (27th March).
10th Feb - Putting up lots more videos to YouTube of such things as robot Lightning in testing, fighting Chaos 2, the build process, at Worthing, as Thunder getting tested, Techno Games behind the scenes, rocket car tests in slow motion, and a clip from the 'Robot Workshop' pilot that I made with the Plunderbird team.
23rd Jan - The Cyber-Dave team is in discussion again and hope to meet very soon. We might take a slightly new direction with the machine but still fundamentally the same. It is far from finished and I have a few ideas of my own. It is a team venture though, so we'll see what the others want to do too.
15th Jan - Added YouTube videos throughout the site.
5th Jan 2008 - In 18 days I have completed a Machinima feature length76 minute movie called 'The Lightning Wars'. This movie is not for release. It uses images from the PS2 Robot Wars game, captured into an edit suite, other shots created in Poser 4 CG (Computer Generated) software, and then it is all added together to make a cohesive story. About 25 fights cataloguing the rise to fame of CG Lightning R4-4, how it won the fictitious UK and World Championships and then did demos around the globe, in a scrapyard, on an Oil Rig and even in a Volcanoe. Made with my sons Laurie and Jon.
Robot Cyber-Dave is having it's electronics worked on.
