SYNOPSIS

In the not too distant future, mankind will attempt to go faster than the speed of light in a spacecraft and in doing so will achieve another first too....

Johnny says goodbye to his family and ponders his future. He lifts off from Earth in his spacecraft, Starspeed One, with his trusty robot co-pilot SCAMP. He manages to be the first pilot to break the speed of light barrier but ends up so far in outer space that he runs into the middle of a space battle between two warring factions. The jump back to Earth is so hurried that there is no time to engage 'time dilation filters'. Upon reaching Earth, SCAMP reports that there is a slight problem - 'Johnny has regressed in time', and he is now a baby.

DETAILS

The movie last 7 minutes and features many computer generated (CG) effects (FX). Starspeed One and SCAMP are CG and were made using Asymetrix 3DFX. The images look stylised, not realistic. It stars Laurie Calvert as Johnny and also features most of his family. There is only a small amount of live action and this is usually composited (put into) a scene with other stuff. One FX shot has 185 separate components put together. The film was made mostly in the computer over a period of 52 days and every shot has some form of computer modification on it. The live action was shot in about 2 hours in front of a blue screen cloth. The music comes from Return of the Jedi and other sources. This is one of Laurie's favourites because it has a punchy ending and is fast paced with lots of interesting images. It forms a trilogy with films called 'Duke Starkiller' and Vicky Voodoo'.  They were all made in 1998 and 1999.
